Castlerock, Derry
People say this golf club offers a challenging and well-maintained course with stunning coastal views, particularly on the final holes of each nine. They highlight the excellent value for money, especially for societies, and the friendly, welcoming atmosphere. They also like the helpful staff, including the caddie master and pro shop staff.
Castlerock Golf Club features the classic links Mussenden Course — a seaside championship layout set amid towering dunes with panoramic views over the Atlantic, sand dunes and the nearby River Bann estuary. The course is known for its signature 200‑yard par‑3 “Leg O’Mutton” (4th hole), a demanding tee shot over railway and water, and a design heritage by Ben Sayers with later refinements by Harry Colt and Dr Martin Hawtree. The club also includes the 9‑hole Bann Course, offering a shorter but still scenic and testing links‑style round.
